Sobre Joanna Bethlehem
Who I am:
I'm Joanna Bethlehem P. Gutiérrez, a licensed English Language teacher with 18 years of teaching experience. I started out teaching at the university level for 8 years, and for the past 10 years I've been teaching at the high school level, where I currently teach Language and Communication III, Reading Strategies, and the English Translation specialization, covering the fundamentals of translation and interpretation. I hold a Trinity College Grade 10 certification (Graded Examination in Spoken English) and a Level 2 Certificate in ESOL International (Speaking and Listening), equivalent to CEFR level C1.1.
Why I teach private lessons:
After 18 years in the classroom — first with university students and now at the high school level, even training future translators and interpreters — I've learned that every student has their own pace and way of learning, something that isn't always possible to address in a large classroom. I decided to offer private lessons so I can follow each person's process closely: moving at their pace, focusing on exactly what they need, and sharing everything I've learned over nearly two decades of teaching languages. Whether you want to build confidence speaking, prepare for an exam, or dive into the world of translation, you'll find a space here made just for you.
