Sobre Elena
I have experience teaching Spanish to 5-year old children and adults (online and face to face) for 1 year in Scotland (2019). It has been a very rewarding and nurturing experience and I would like to offer what I have proved it works.
I taught children at their homes with my own material and in a nursery through a language academy called The Language Hub. When I went to the nursery I used the planning provided by the Language Hub consisted in a block of 8 lessons. A very well thought structure that I am glad to share in my future Spanish lessons. I was so surprised that children could learn so fast in a playful environment that I would like to offer this modality through these COVID times.
During 2019 I also taught Spanish to adults, face to face, and online. I am very satisfied with this experience, as it allowed me to reach people from different nationalities, different ages, and varied profiles. I could learn how was to teach the whole range of educative levels of Spanish, from very basic level to advanced.
I have a Bachelor in Sociology and have two certificates for teaching Spanish as a foreign language (you can find more details on my CV). Nowadays I am living in Barcelona where I am studying Psychotherapy, one of my passions. My professional background is very rich and diverse, and I highlight my role as teacher and instructor in different moments of my life (you can check my professional background on my CV).

Here you will find my two modalities of Spanish lessons:
- Basic Online Spanish for kids:
You can choose between single lessons or 1 block of 8 lessons.
My methodology is based on my experience of teaching Spanish to children in Scotland.
If you choose the single lessons I adapt exclusively to the needs of each child. Everyone is different, with different rhythms, ways to learn, and preferences. These lessons are very personalized and even though they are going to be focused on basic Spanish with the main topics I teach through the block, they will be created according to the natural rhythm of each child. I always use songs, painting, and games. I like using the movement through space as well as exercises where kids can come to calm focusing on the body and the breath.
On the other hand, I offer 1 block of 8 lessons where each lesson will correspond to a basic topic of Spanish. I have taken this didactic methodology from The Language Hub in Glasgow, where I worked during 2019. The lessons have always the same structure so that the child learns Spanish through a basic routine. Again, using toys, playing with space, storytelling is going to be part of the methodology used.
In both modalities the interaction and communication with the parents are crucial. Firstly you as a parent will have the sheet with the content your child is learning so you both can practice together. And sometimes it will be necessary that the child will have certain material ready for the dynamic of the session.
Single lessons last 45 minutes whereas the lessons from the block 30 minutes. In both modalities, I will respect at least 50 % of linguistic immersion, meaning I will try to speak Spanish most of the time.

- Adults lessons:
The lessons I am offering for adults are mainly for conversation. You will need to speak basic Spanish so that these lessons will be worthwhile for you.
When I started teaching I found there was a need to have space only to speak, to practice, to try.
In these sessions we are going to pay attention to new vocabulary and grammar structures. Although these are not the main focus.
We are going to work together, making these lessons fun and appealing by using articles, movies, reports, or papers you would like to work with, to investigate, to read, to discuss. The focus will be on improving the way you communicate in Spanish. Think which is the communicative level you would like to reach, and there we will go!!
