Hi there!
I am an English primary school teacher and I currently work in a private school in Barcelona (Year 2).
I have taught business English in different companies in Barcelona and I also have experience with teenagers.
My main focus is communication but I also believe that grammar and vocabulary are essential when learning a new language.
I aim to cover the four basic skills in my lessons: reading, writing, listening and speaking. I always like to start my classes with a small chat with the student so they feel more comfortable and focused. Then I like to engage them in a certain topic that we have to cover by asking questions, watching a video or talking about previous experiences etc. After that I like to read with my students because I believe that improves their reading fluency, accuracy and enhances their vocabulary. Finally, I think it is good to do small spelling tests (with words, making sentences or writing a short statement) at the end of each class however this depends on their age and needs.
I have plenty of experience teaching reading and writing with English to Spanish native children and I am quite familiar with the areas they struggle with the most. I also have experience in teaching communication skills to adults that use English for work, presentations or university. In addition to this I have also helped students prepare for the official English language exams (Cambridge and Trinity).
